Our Guests Say Nice Things About Us

“We can certainly recommend The Greenwood for either a long or short stay”

Date of review: 7 July 2011

Myself, my wife, her sister and brother in law, all stayed at the Greenwood for one night en-route to Cornwall and what an excellent choice. When we arrived we had the most delicious cream tea we have ever tasted in the lovely garden area. The bedrooms were very clean and comfortable and our breakfast was equally as delicious as the cream teas! Penny, the owner, is very friendly and made us feel very welcome. We can certainly recommend The Greenwood for either a long or short stay.

“We felt relaxed and ‘at home’ and there are not many places you can say that about”

Hi, Penny,

I just wanted to say thank you once again – we had a really lovely time staying at The Greenwood.  We felt relaxed and ‘at home’ and there are not many places you can say that about.  And I slept quite well because I felt so relaxed and comfortable which was a big bonus.  We also loved the breakfast – so much choice and really delicious.  We will definitely recommend you to others and hope to come and stay again at some time in the future.

Thanks again for making us feel so welcome.

“The perfect base to stay with a dog as a base to explore the Quantocks, coastline and the Mendips”

My partner and I, with our Greyhound, received a very warm welcome from the Landlady, Penny and we were shown to our pretty, spotlessly clean and well equipped room. Although evening dinner was available, we chose to eat in a local pub in order to stretch the dog’s legs with the walk there and back.

The breakfasts were very tasty and not at all greasy, the bacon and tomatoes having been grilled. The cream teas, which are offered to guests and non-residents were absolutely ‘scrummy’! Homemade, large and light scones served with cream and homemade jam and a generous pot of tea. They are to be recommended.

Friends joined us for part of our long week-end stay and we all commented on the first rate standard of the guest house and service. Penny works very hard and nothing was too much trouble for her.
Apart from a few pubs in the local area, there is nothing around The Greenwood, but it is an excellent base from which to explore North Somerset and the Quantocks provide walks with outstanding views.
A very highly recommended guest house and one to which we hope to return in the not too distant future..

“Warm welcome, friendly atmosphere and great food!”

We stayed at The Greenwood (I think the name must have changed from Greenwood Lodge) with friends and their dog – they had selected The Greenwood specifically because it was dog-friendly, but it is decidedly human-friendly too! Penny says in the information in the lovely rooms that it is important to her that guests enjoy their stay, and she works incredibly hard to make sure they do. I don’t think I have ever experienced a more friendly or relaxed atmosphere in a B&B – nothing was too much trouble.

One morning of our stay, all the rooms were occupied and there was a group using the Seminar Room – Penny still managed to prepare and serve the most delicious breakfast for us all single-handed. We also sampled the cream teas (delicious!), and Penny also offers a three-course evening meal. Our room was small but, again, every detail was looked after – even down to providing a bottle of mineral water and replacing the soap each day.

We had a thoroughly enjoyable, relaxing break in good company.
